The Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) – College of Law through Green Juris and in coordination with Davao City’s Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) successfully conducted a tree-planting activity last 22 July 2023 at Brgy. Eden Summer Resort Reservation Area, Davao City.

There were almost 40 participants in the activity headed by Atty. Kristina G. Tan-Valdez, the moderator of Green Juris. Aside from the students and stakeholders of ADDU – College of Law, representatives from CENRO were also present in the activity. Moreover, the activity has been made possible by the endless support of ADDU – College of Law Dean, Atty. Manuel P. Quibod and Assistant Dean, Atty. Jazzie Sarona-Lozare.

Almost 100 white lawaan seedlings endemic to the Philippines were planted by the participants in the tree-planting site that the City Government of Davao owned. It is believed that planting trees in the said area will help lessen the effect of climate change, mitigate the destructive impacts of floods, and preserve the rich biodiversity of Davao City.

As a legal educational institution, the ADDU – College of Law promotes everyone’s right to a balanced and healthful ecology. It is consistently committed to promoting greener solutions to environmental problems and concerns. Through the said tree-planting activity, the ADDU – College of Law and Green Juris hope that, in a simple and significant way, it was able to impart to the College of Law community the importance of trees in our environment and lives as well as elevate the utmost significance of environmental justice and equity.
