A semester abroad can change the way a student experiences learning. New classrooms, different cultures, and everyday encounters all become part of the experience, often leaving students with perspectives they carry long after the semester ends.
For Ms. Bea Nicole L. Yap, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Business Management student from the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) School of Business and Governance, the experience has taken her to Saint Martin’s University (SMU) in Lacey, Washington, USA, where she is studying the Fall 2026 / First Semester as an exchange student from August to December 2026.
At SMU, Bea is taking courses in business analytics and statistics, quantitative decision-making, human resource management, marketing, and operations management. These courses complement her BS Business Management curriculum at ADDU while introducing her to different approaches to business education, classroom discussion, and academic coursework.
Studying at another university also gives Bea the opportunity to learn alongside international students and professors while experiencing a vibrant campus life. She has joined cultural and social activities, including a recent excursion to Mt. Rainier, where she spent time with fellow students and visited one of Washington State’s well-known natural landmarks.
The Ateneo de Davao University wishes Bea well as she completes her semester at Saint Martin’s University.
