The Confucius Institute at the Ateneo de Davao University (CI-ADDU) participates in the Joint Conference of Southeast Asian Confucius Institutes in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, as it hallmarks as the first international in-person gathering of Confucius Institutes in Southeast Asia on the heels of a global health crisis.

CI-ADDU and its partner institution, Huaqiao University in Xiamen, China, join the gathering of all Confucius Institutes from Thailand, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. With a view of strengthening international Chinese education programs in the pursuit of greater transnational understanding, the Chinese International Education Foundation (CIEF) leads the conference of University officials and Confucius Institute Chinese and Local Directors.

Delegates from higher education institutions in China, such as Peking University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Xiamen University, Shandong University, Shanghai University, and other partner universities, shared their collaborative engagements and best practices in advancing development visions for Confucius Institutes in Southeast Asia and worldwide. The conference was held at the Beijing International Convention Center on 19-21 July 2023.
