Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU), through its Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao Office, successfully concluded the pilot cycle of the International Study Visit in South Korea. Twelve (12) delegates from different departments and offices participated, exploring South Korea’s rich culture and traditions from 25 June to 01 July 2023.

The primary objective of this program is to provide an enriching space for international travel, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures and traditions among ADDU’s administrators, faculty, and staff. Moreover, it aims to nurture holistic staff and faculty development through cultural exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and experiential learning.

The study trip commenced in Seoul, where our delegates immersed themselves in South Korea’s rich cultural heritage. They explored captivating landmarks like Gyeongbok Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Namsan Tower. An authentic experience awaited them as they tried their hand at making gimbap and donned the elegant Hanbok, South Korea’s traditional attire.

The trip continued to Busan, where ADDU delegates visited our esteemed partner, the Catholic University of Pusan (CUP), on 29 June 2023. The meeting with CUP’s Vice-President, Rev. Youm Cheol-ho, and other administrators and staff paved the way for potential collaborations and additional experiential learning opportunities between our universities. They also had a campus tour, learned the basics of the Korean language, celebrated the Holy Eucharist, and had an enjoyable day tour in Yeong-do (Yeong Island).

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the warm and welcoming team at CUP for making this a wonderful experience for our delegates. The AIM Office would also like to thank our dear participants who embraced this opportunity to be a part of the pilot cycle of our international study visit.
