Undergraduate students from the Ateneo de Davao University’s International Studies Department were given the opportunity to present their thesis paper at the sixth Oriental Business and Innovation Center (OBIC) Conference 2023 in Budapest, Hungary, on 06 May 2023.

Graduating student presenters Patricia Nicole E. Lucena and Algybryl G. Pendulat, with their thesismates Aldriena Thehani T. Angas and Nicole Clarisse D. Barrera, have set their sights on the Bangsamoro region in Mindanao for their research. Their paper “Identifying the Transformations in the U.S. Exchange Alumni and their Role in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism in the Bangsamoro Region” highlighted the narratives and efforts from the overlooked actors for peace in the developing region.

The conference took place at Budapest Business School, focusing on “Energy Crisis and Security Challenges in the World: Sustainable Responses of the Asian Economies and Societies.” On which the Atenean students presented on a panel for “Asia and Its International Political and Economic Relations.”

The event was filled with 38 presenters from 13 countries worldwide, with most participants being academics from different esteemed universities, directors of institutions, and PhD Students. The Atenean students were the only undergraduates and Filipinos to present at the conference.
