Ateneo de Davao University Libraries Director, Ms. Fretzie A. Fajardo, recently participated in a five-day training course on American Spaces Tradecraft in Hanoi, Vietnam, from April 24 to 28, 2023. The program, sponsored by the US Department of State, gathered 26 American Spaces coordinators and directors from 11 countries in the East Asia Pacific region, including the Philippines.

The course aimed to equip participants with essential skills in planning, programming, and engagement through active learning and exchanging best practices. Ms. Fajardo had the opportunity to network with her counterparts from different countries and share experiences to improve the American Spaces program at Ateneo de Davao University.

Representatives from various American Corners in the Philippines also attended the workshop, including American Corner Davao-Ateneo de Davao University, American Corner Jolo-Notre Dame of Jolo College, American Corner Manila-De la Salle University, and American Corner Batac-Mariano Marcos Memorial State University.

Ms. Fajardo’s participation in the program not only benefited the university’s American Spaces program and its stakeholders but also promoted cultural exchange and quality education. Ateneo de Davao University’s commitment to providing an international platform for learning and engagement is further enhanced by the efforts of its librarians and staff in pursuing professional development opportunities.
