The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) would host annual field trips for its Donor Support Group (DSG) in order for the organization to become more aware of the realities of peacebuilding and humanitarian efforts from the grassroots level. This year, the ICRC DSG engaged Ateneo de Davao University during their trip in order to have a dialogue regarding the importance of incorporating the Mindanao Mission in their humanitarian efforts under the Geneva Convention. The ICRC DSG met with Ateneo de Davao University delegates at the Community Center of the First Companions last 30 March 2023, Thursday.

The Donor Support Group representatives were Ms. Diane Whitten, First Secretary, Geneva Permanent Mission of the United States; Ms. Lucia Cipullo, Head of Donor Engagement, ICRC Geneva; Mr. Dany Merhy, Head of Prevention, ICRC Manila; Ms. Kelisiana Thynne, Legal Coordinator, ICRC Manila; Mr.  Aminul Islam, Networking Coordinator, ICRC Manila; Mr. Samuel Genita, Communication Officer, ICRC Manila; Mr. Michael Oritseweyinmi Oyan, Head of Sub-delegation, ICRC Davao; and Ms. Lany dela Cruz, Adviser to the Head of Sub-delegation, ICRC Davao.

The ICRC DSG delegates first paid a courtesy visit to Fr. Joel E. Tabora, SJ, President of the Ateneo de Davao University. In their meeting, the University President welcomed the group in their desire to collaborate with the Ateneo de Davao University in its peace advocacy as ingrained in its mission to serve Mindanao.

After a campus tour, the Donor Support Group of the ICRC met with ADDU delegates from the academic units and various centers. Present for the dialogue are: Atty. Romeo Cabarde, Jr., Assistant to the President for Advocacy and Legal Affairs, who presented the role of ADDU as an advocate in the Mindanao Mission; Datu Mussolini Lidasan and Mr. Kenny Lloyd Angon, on behalf of the Al Qalam Institute; Mr. John Harvey Gamas, Chair, International Studies Department; Sh. C. Sultan U. Ubpon, LPT, Chair, Islamic Studies Department; Atty. Manuel Quibod, Dean, College of Law; Atty. Jazzie M. Sarona-Lozare, Asst. Dean of College of Law; and Mr. Romulo Vinci Bueza, Director, Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao Office.
