In celebration of the International Education Week, the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF), also known as the Fulbright Commission in the Philippines, hosted a reception on 19 November 2024 at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.

The event invited alumni, scholars, representatives from higher education institutions, organizations, and other partners, featured testimonies, and presented the Fulbright U.S. scholarships, fellowship grants, and other study-abroad opportunities for Filipino and American students. The reception was attended by Ateneo de Davao University President Fr. Karel S. San Juan, SJ; Dr. Renante D. Pilapil, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar (2017-2018); and Ms. Lyd Ejira C. Ducusin, Assistant Director of the Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao Office.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Julio Amador III, PAEF Executive Director, encouraged the pursuit of academic and cultural exchanges. The 2024-2025 outbound scholars of the Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Initiative Program and the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program were introduced, as well as the inbound scholars of the Fulbright Student Program and the Fulbright Senior Scholar Program.

Ms. Jessica Simon, PAEF Chairperson and Counselor for Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, expressed PAEF’s mission and continued support for international education collaboration between the Philippines and the United States in her closing remarks.
