The Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao (AIM) Office presents the Electronic Service-Learning Program (E-SLP) as the online equivalent of its International Service-Learning Program. This virtual program is a 4-week global experiential and formative opportunity under the service-learning framework. It is aligned with Ateneo de Davao University’s mission of social involvement and community engagement and AIM’s mission of formative learning and cultural understanding. And because of the successful first cycle, the IE-SLP was able to continue in its second cycle in the summer of 2021. The April 2021 cycle hosted 19 students from Widya Mandala Surabaya Catholic University, Indonesia, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, Xavier Learning Community, Thailand, as well as local students from Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, Ateneo de Davao University, and San Pedro College.

In this service-learning program, the interaction is supported electronically, maximizing the avenues of distance learning and collaboration. Student participants are made to engage with and share the advocacies of Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU)’s partner communities in Mindanao. Students are linked with people from local sectors and community-based organizations, indigenous groups, and other social minority groups, with whom they shall collaborate and develop service-based projects with. Students will serve these communities through integrated multidisciplinary tasks, project development initiatives, and real-world applications of their academic coursework.
