One of Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU)’s BS Aerospace Engineering studentsMr. Sukhpreet Singh, attended the Best Diplomats United Nations (UN) Conference Simulation in Tree by Hilton M Square, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 22-25 September 2023.

The UN Conference Smulation, often called a Model United Nations (MUN) conference, is an educational activity that simulates the workings of the UN or other international organizations. It is organized for students, usually at the high school or college level, and individuals interested in diplomacy, leadership, and international studies. The primary purpose of a UN conference simulation is to provide participants with an opportunity to engage in diplomatic negotiations, learn about international issues, and develop skills in diplomacy, public speaking, research, and critical thinking.

Participants from different nationalities represented 60 countries and major companies at the conference, including Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, France, Georgia, India, Iraq, Israel, Kenya, Nepal, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, UAE, USA, Ukraine and numerous other countries.

Representing the Philippines, Mr. Singh gave a short introductory speech about the Philippines and its diplomatic stance on the Democratic backsliding in Europe and North America. He participated in the assembly proceedings, mock resolution drafting, and deliberation.

After the conclusion of the formal conference, the participants were awarded a certificate of participation and special awards for Outstanding Diplomats, after which they departed for the Dubai Safari Tour and Diplomatic Dinner.
