Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) was proudly represented by Mr. Romulo Vinci R. Bueza, Director of the Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao (AIM) Office, in the United Board Fellows Program. The program’s culminating Leadership Seminar, held in Singapore from 28 June to 06 July 2023, offered an enriching platform for fellows to engage and learn.

The seminar’s primary focus was on cross-cultural collaboration and leadership development. Bringing together fellows from Cohort 2019-2020 and Cohort 2021-2022, the event hosted over 40 United Board Fellows representing various Asian countries and regions. The Singapore Management University served as the host for this interactive gathering, fostering the exchange of insights and ideas. The interactive sessions, workshops, and shared activities were meticulously designed to encourage participants to engage in thought-provoking conversations. This environment of mutual learning served as a fertile ground for the cultivation of relationships, the forging of partnerships, and the birth of collaborative initiatives that could potentially extend far beyond the confines of the seminar.

Among the participants, Mr. Bueza’s journey during the United Board Fellows Program was acknowledged by being awarded the 2021-2022 Elisabeth Luce Moore United Board Fellow. This recognition highlights the dedication of a distinguished fellow from each class to personal growth and the embodiment of visionary leadership values.

The seminar’s closing ceremony featured Dr. Pareena Gupta Lawrence, newly-installed President of the United Board for Christian Higher Education, motivating all fellows, to embrace their roles as leaders of higher education institutions. Dr. Lawrence’s words underscored the significance of fostering positive change through education and community engagement.

Concluding the seminar, Mr. Bueza’s accomplishments echo ADDU’s commitment to nurturing leaders with a global perspective. His participation, alongside fellow attendees, underscores the University’s dedication to holistic education and its mission to empower students to make meaningful contributions within their communities.
