The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) awarded the Ateneo de Davao University with the Best Internationalization (IZN) Practice during the Pandemic Award for its Globally Networked Learning Environment (GNLE). The award was conferred to the University during the ASEAN Philippine Higher Education Internationalization Champions Of Nation-building and Sustainability (ASEAN ICONS) Internationalization Awards last 26 August 2022 at Hilton Manila, Pasay City.
This award is given to the HEI with the best project or program which utilized existing resources and innovatively supported learning and engagement during the pandemic. AdDU was awarded under Category A (Public and Private HEIs).
At AdDU, GNLEs are innovative spaces of both onsite and remote learning designed to empower students in their navigation and understanding of an increasingly globalized, volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world.
Avenues for the GNLE Framework, through the University’s International Office, include: Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), International Learning Sessions, Pakighinabi (Conversation Series), International Service-Learning Programs, and Global Internship Programs.
These learning environments link students to peers, instructors, experts, and communities from diverse contexts; challenge students to negotiate and build shared learning cultures across diverse boundaries; and provide students with new opportunities for civic engagement in a global context.
Aside from the Best IZN Practice during the Pandemic Award, the Ateneo de Davao University was recognized as one of the finalists for the Outstanding Contribution to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Award of the ASEAN ICONS Internationalization Awards.
This award is given by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) during the ASEAN Philippine Higher Education Internationalization Champions Of Nation-building and Sustainability (ASEAN ICONS) Internationalization Awards last 26 August 2022 at Hilton Manila, Pasay City.
The award recognizes the institution with the best social engagement activities or initiatives. The initiatives aim to advance quality higher education by reaching out to the community and inspiring social responsibility among its stakeholders.
The University, through its Internationalization for Mindanao (AIM) Office and Arrupe Office of Social Formation (AOSF), hosts the International Electronic Service-Learning Program, whose advocacy is closely aligned with its mission of social involvement and community engagement for Mindanao. It is a 4-week global experiential learning program offered to students and young leaders from partner academic institutions.
Mindanao has since been at the forefront of conversations promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. AdDU continues to honor its commitment to Mindanao through experiential learning and service-learning.
Among the four (4) pillars of the Internationalization (IZN) Roadmap, the program responds to Pillars 1 (Sector), 2 (Institutions), and 3 (Persons). The program hopes for the participants and partners to share in the deep feeling as they encounter the multicultural nature of Mindanao.
Ad majorem Dei gloriam!
