The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities in Asia Pacific (AJCU-AP) International Networking Office (INO) Meeting held from November 30 to December 2, 2023, at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, was a fruitful gathering of international relations officers, academic leaders, and administrators committed to fostering collaboration and advancing the Jesuit higher education mission in the Asia Pacific region.

The agenda was packed with enriching discussions and presentations. The day began with a prayer, welcoming remarks from administrators of Sophia University, and an introduction of participants. Notable highlights included presentations on the 2023 Service-Learning Program (SLP) hosted by the Xavier Learning Center (Saengtham College-Xavier Campus, Thailand) and plans for the Global Leadership Program (GLP) hosted by Sophia University (Japan).

Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines) presented the proposal on the association initiative on the Magis Microcredentials. Discussions on the Democracy and Human Rights Task Force, and Peace and Reconciliation Task Force initiatives of the International Association of Jesuit Universities followed. The afternoon featured general updates on collaborative initiatives, including Collaborative Online International Learning (led by the Ateneo de Davao University and Sophia University), partnerships with the Beijing Center, Friendship Retreat, Laudato Si’ University, and Safeguarding.

The proposal for the AJCU-AP Quarterly Newsletter and the host for the 2024 AJCU-INO Meeting were also discussed. The day concluded with networking opportunities and a memorable farewell dinner.

Looking ahead, Ateneo de Davao University is poised to host the Service-Learning Program for the academic year 2024-2025, contributing to the ongoing efforts to foster international collaboration within the Jesuit educational community.
