The American Corner (AC) Davao conducted a Book Conversation on the Mindanao Peace Games (MPG) in partnership with the ADDU Athletics Office and the International Studies Department and with the delegation from the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section on 26 January 2023 at the American Corner, Wieman Building, Ateneo de Davao University.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a defining moment each year when Americans across the world step up to make communities more equitable and take action to create the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream. Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day is a good opportunity to engage with the community while honoring the legacy of Dr. King.
The Mindanao Peace Games is akin to Martin Luther King’s nonviolent social movements, promotion of equal rights, and peace initiatives. The resource speaker of the event is ADDU Athletics Office Director, MPG convenor, and MPG book Author, Mr. Emmanuel Rene “Coach Noli” Ayo.
On 25 January 2023, the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section (PAS) had a courtesy visit with the University President, Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J. ADDU welcomed the guests from PAS: Ms. Pauline Anderson, Deputy Public Engagement Attaché (Grants Officer); Ms. Jennifer Anne Pascua, American Spaces Program Coordinator; Mr. Paul Thomas, Regional Public Diplomacy Officer; and Ms. Kimberly Jane Tan, Strategic Public Engagement Specialist. They were also joined by Mr. Jeremy S. Eliab, ADDU Executive Vice President, and American Corner Davao Director and ADDU Director of Libraries and AV Center, Ms. Fretzie A. Fajardo.
Afterward, the delegation met with Mr. Vinci R. Bueza, Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao Office Director, to explore avenues for collaboration between ADDU and the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section.
