Ateneo de Davao University recently hosted the much-awaited Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) Mindanao Games from 17-21 April 2023. With the theme, “Safe, Cohesive, Inclusive Sports for All,” the event brought together over 1,600 participants, including athletes, coaches, and officials from various schools and universities in Mindanao, making it a resounding success.
After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CEAP Mindanao Games finally made a comeback, albeit with limited intercollegiate sporting events. The games showcased an impressive display of sportsmanship and athletic prowess, with participants competing in various disciplines such as cultural events, badminton, basketball, chess, football, futsal, table tennis, taekwondo, sepak takraw, swimming, volleyball, and esports.
As the host institution, Ateneo de Davao University ensured that safety measures were strictly followed during the event, making sure that athletes and spectators adhered to protocols while engaging in competitions and sports events.
The CEAP Mindanao Games provided an excellent opportunity for participants to network and interact with students from other institutions. The event ended on a high note with the presence of Fr. Joel Tabora, Ateneo President, and Br. Noelvic H. Deloria SC, DACS President. The games were then passed on to the Caraga region to host the CEAP Mindanao 2024 in Surigao.
