Pursuant to Commission on Higher Education Memorandum Order No. 01, series of 2015, otherwise known as \u201cEstablishing the Policies and Guidelines on Gender and Development (GAD) in the Commission on Higher Education and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)<\/em>\u201d, the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) has established its own GAD Focal Committee.<\/p>\n

The committee is tasked to review the university\u2019s policies, standards, and guidelines to determine compliance with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPFA), and the Magna Carta for Women (MCW).<\/p>\n

Aside from this, the GAD Focal Committee will recommend appropriate measures to ensure compliance with the GAD mandates and develop GAD programs for the higher education units and for the coordination to implement such programs in the University.<\/p>\n

The implementation of approved GAD policies and guidelines, programs, projects, and activities of the institution and submission of the regular reports to the University President \u2013 who is the Gender Focal Point System (GFPS) Head \u2013 shall also be overseen by the committee.<\/p>\n

Lastly, these GAD advocates shall maintenance of records of GAD plans, activities, and programs, and the establishment of a database of information and report on the status of implementation annually and recommend annual allocation for the operational expenses for the GAD mechanisms and programs.<\/p>\n

To serve for three years, the members of the GAD Focal Committee are composed of the following:<\/p>\n

  1. Ira Calatrava-Valenzuela (Office of Student Affairs);<\/li>\n
  2. Romeo T. Cabarde, Jr. (Administrative Cluster);<\/li>\n
  3. Mary Donna Grace J. Cuenca (Academic Cluster);<\/li>\n
  4. Diana Carmella G. Taganas (Research Cluster);<\/li>\n
  5. Perpy C. Tio (Engagement Cluster); and<\/li>\n
  6. Gene Leo A. Jesuro (Formation Cluster).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The cohort is expected to assist the Gender Focal Point System \u2013 headed by the University President \u2013 in preparing the GAD Plan and Budget for the university. With the formation of this assembly, more programs for gender development are expected.<\/p>\n
