As a university, it is a community engaged in excellent instruction and formation, robust research, and vibrant community service. As Catholic, it proceeds ex corde ecclesiae<\/em>, from the heart of the Church. As Jesuit, it appropriates the mission of the Society of Jesus and the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola. As Filipino, it contributes to and serves Mindanao.<\/p>\n Our University is a private teaching, service, and research university run by the Society of Jesus in Davao City in the Philippines. It was established in 1948, and is the seventh Ateneo opened by the Jesuits in the Philippines. Located in the Southern Philippine island of Mindanao, where many of the indigenous peoples of the Philippines live, its mission\u00a0include\u00a0\u201cinter-religious and inter-cultural dialogues\u201d promoting communities of peace touched and transformed by the faith.
